WVBA Homestay coordinator Chris VanderWel sends off our Brazilian guests

SEATTLE, WA - 6/5/06
Minas Tênis Clube
American and Brazilian eyes were misty when Minas Tênis Clube players left Seattle for their long journey home to Brazil. Homestay coordinator Chris VanderWel along with Marla Vasilatos helped drop the Brazilians at Seatac for their 23 hour journey south to Belo Horizonte.

Our South American friend's stay in Seattle was full of fun and games. The Brazilians, along with their WVBA host families, played and danced and laughed and shopped 'til they dropped during their 8-day stay here.

In August, WVBA will send a team of 10 players to Belo Horizonte, Brazil to complete the exchange. Players will be hosted by Minas players and will compete in a 5-day tournament featuring teams from across Brazil plus a team from Portugal.

Final Local Competition
This weekend will be the final local competition for our teams. All seven teams continuing into post season will be playing this Saturday.

WVBA Mizuno® 18-Black and 17-Black will be playing at Columbia Middle School in Fife.

18-Red and 16-Black will be playing at Kentwood High School in Kent.

16-Red, 15-Black and 14-Black will be playing at Fife High School in Fife.

Matches should begin at 8:30 on Saturday. Please come out and support our teams for their final local tournament for the year.

JOs and VB Festival
WVBA is sending four teams to Atlanta, GA and three teams to Reno, NV to finish their seasons.

WVBA 18-Black, 17-Black, 16-Black and 15-Black will be traveling to Atlanta to compete in the USA Volleyball® Junior Olympic Championship tournament at the end of June.

The tournament spans four days and features teams who have qualified from across the country. WVBA 15-Black will be the first team to compete in Atlanta beginning 6/29 through 7/2.

16-Black will follow with competition dates of 7/1-7/4 and 17-Black and 18-Black will show up last with their competition running 7/2 through 7/5.

WVBA 18-Red, 16-Red and 14-Black will be heading to Reno to compete in the Volleyball Festival.

The Festival is the largest girls sporting event in the world featuring nearly 10,000 female volleyball players from across the USA, Canada and usually a smattering of teams from Puerto Rico.

This tournament begins 6/25 and ends on 6/30.

Year End BBQ
WVBA will celebrate the 2006 season at our year end barbecue at the old Woodway HS on Wednesday evening beginning at 6:30pm.
