SEATTLE, WA - 5/27/06
Emerald City Classic
The 20th Emerald City Classic Invitational tournament is underway at the University of Washington on Saturday-Monday May 27-29th.

WVBA Parent and staff volunteers will be working hard to make your participation in this tournament fun and enjoyable.

This year's event will feature teams from as close as Seattle and as far away as Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The bulk of the teams coming are from both sides of Washington and Oregon, but we also are honored to host teams from British Columbia, Idaho, California and of course Brazil.

Workshops and Panels
There will be four outstanding free workshops on Saturday designed to educate players and parents that are interested in playing volleyball in college. Led by staff of Varsity Student Institute, these workshops will be held in the Assembly Room located in the court level of the Bank of America Arena just off court 1.

On Sunday there will be two unique panel discussions. The first panel will consist of college coaches from Division 1 through NAIA talking about their recruiting process and sharing ideas that will help student-athletes to be successful in their process of selecting a college. The coaches' panel will begin at 2pm. These workshops are free to all players and parents.

Following the coaches' panel on Sunday afternoon will be another panel discussion. This one features current collegiate players and begins at 4pm. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to learn first hand from existing players what it is like to be a college volleyball player.

Saturday Parking
All volleyball players, coaches, and fans will be directed into the parking lots immediately surrounding Husky Stadium to the west and south (E10-E11) and the large north parking lots (E1). There is NO PARKING in E8 or E9. Please respect the University of Washington's parking regulations and signs. All parking will be free throughout the holiday weekend.

AM/PM Wave
The AM Wave will begin with all open division teams competing from 8am - 2pm. The PM Wave will begin at 3pm and run through approximately 9pm. All club divisions will compete during the PM Wave.

Doug's Rockin' BBQ
Bring your appetite for Doug's Rockin' Barbecue Stand where WVBA parent volunteers will be serving up burgers and chicken to the sounds of mostly 70s and 80s rock. You won't need to plan for lunches at this tournament. Just kick back and enjoy the WVBA volunteers running the BBQ to raise funds for the non-profit Washington Volleyball Acadedmy.

Other vendors include Jamba Juice®, Susan's Cookies, BJ's Espresso, Micheal Hall Photography, Athletic Supply, Washington Massage, Skillshow, Nevillizms, Inc., and Varsity Student Institute will all be on hand to cater to your volleyball appetites.
