SEATTLE, WA - 5/18/06
Emerald City Classic
The 20th Emerald City Classic Invitational tournament is set to begin at the University of Washington on Saturday-Monday May 27-29th.

WVBA Parent and staff volunteers have been busily working in the background in preparation for this exciting event. We like to think of this tournament as a party that we throw that also has some volleyball courts set up.

This year's event will feature teams from as close as Seattle and as far away as Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The bulk of the teams coming are from both sides of Washington and Oregon, but we also are honored to host teams from British Columbia, Idaho, California and of course Brazil.

Special Guest Speakers
We are happy to announce our two very special guest speakers for our coaches' meeting will be All-American and National Champion Husky volleyball players Courtney Thompson and Christal Morrison. Both prior winners of the ECC, these two volleyball stars have grown to become two of the best collegiate players in the country.

Not only are they exceptional volleyball players, they are very engaging personalities.

Christal and Courtney will share their experience of setting the lofty goal of and ultimately winning the elusive national championship. Their presentation is sure to be fun and educational.

Arrive early to check in your team, tour the playing facilities, and enjoy munchies.

Coaches' meeting sponsors Baden® and Mizuno® will be providing some fun door prizes that will be raffled off to kick off the coaches' meeting at 8:00.

Coaches' Meeting
The ECC Coaches' meeting will be held on Friday evening (5/26) in the Assembly Room off the tunnel between Hec Edmundson Pavilion and the Husky football stadium. You must enter from the court level of the Bank of America Arena at Hec Ed. The coaches' meeting will start at 8:00pm. It was originally scheduled for 9:00pm, but is now being held at 8:00pm.

Team Check-in
We will begin checking teams in at 6:30pm in the same location as the coaches' meeting. If for any reason you will be late to team check-in, please contact us by email at ecc@wvba.org to let us know and we can arrange for late check-in at the tournament desk in Dempsey Indoor 45 minutes prior to your teams' scheduled wave.

Parking on Friday night
The UW will charge for parking on Friday night. The best parking is around Husky Stadium in either E10 or E11. Enter off of Montlake Blvd. and pay at the ticket booth just to the west of Husky Stadium and south of Hec Ed Pavilion. Do not park in the metered parking on either side of Hec Ed or in E8 or E9.

Bring your appetite for Doug's Rockin' Barbecue Stand where WVBA parent volunteers will be serving up burgers and chicken to the sounds of mostly 70s and 80s rock. Jamba Juice®, Susan's Cookies, BJ's Espresso, Micheal Hall Photography, Athletic Supply, Washington Massage, Skillshow, Nevillizms, Inc., and Varsity Student Institute will all be on hand to cater to your volleyball appetites.
