Week 2 of Spokane Qualifier takes place this weekend

SEATTLE, WA--Mar 29, 2009
2009 Youth VB League
WVBA is excited to announce its 2009 youth volleyball league for girls and boys in grades 3rd-7th. This league will run for five consecutive Wednesday nights, 6:30-8:30 beginning on April 15th. There will also be a tournament on Memorial Day at the University of Washington.

SoCal JO Qualifier Results
WVBA Mizuno 18 finished 15th in the 18 Open division at the Southern California JO Qualifier last weekend.

WVBA Mizuno 17 finished 18th in the 17 Open division at the SoCal Junior Olympic Qualifier last weekend.

PNQ Week 1 Results
WVBA Mizuno 16-Gold finished 33rd in the 16 Club division of the Spokane Qualifier last weekend.

WVBA Mizuno 15 finished 4th in the 15 Open division of the Spokane Qualifier last weekend.

WVBA Mizuno 14 finished 6th in the 14 Open division of the Spokane Qualifier last weekend.

Mizuno 14-Gold win their Flight at PNQ

WVBA Mizuno 14-Gold finished tied for 5th in the Olympic Premier U16 tournament at the Kitsap Pavilion in Bremerton on Saturday.


Mizuno 14-Gold finish 5th at OPVBC 16 Tourney on Saturday

WVBA Mizuno 14-Gold will be playing in the PSR Power League Final on Sunday at Highline Community College.

PNQ Week 2
WVBA Mizuno 18 went 0-3 today to finish in 6th place, 3 places out of the JO bid lottery. They started with a loss to Vision 18 Blue in two (19-25, 29-31). Their second match of the day ended in a loss to Portland 18-Black in three (25-19, 19-25, 10-15). This put them into the match for 5th place against Jammers of Hawai'i where they dropped their third straight (14-25, 12-25).

The Academy 18s will have another shot at the local Club bid through the Prime Time tournament on Saturday at Auburn-Mountainview HS.

WVBA Mizuno 17 punched their ticket to Miami by winning an open bid this morning. They first upended #4 seed City Beach 17-Black of NorCal before falling to #1 seed Vision 17-Gold of NorCal and #3 seed High Country 17 Kim of Utah. With some help from Vision and High Country, the Academy 17s finished 3rd overall and secured their open bid to JOs in Miami. Congratulations to the players and coaches of Mizuno 17!

WVBA Mizuno 16 had a tough day 3 in Spokane going 0-2 in pool play and then dropping the match for 5th place to Jammers of Hawai'i (21-25, 24-26). Their day started without their libero Michelle Woodworth who suffered a shoulder injury and was not cleared to play. Their first match was against Puget Sound Region rival ITVC 16 Under Armour who prevailed in three (23-25, 25-22, 10-15). Their next match was against overall #1 seed Laguna Beach 16 Hava who had only allowed 20 points in 2 of their first 14 sets. The Academy 16s dropped the first set 21-25 and fought hard in the second before coming up short 26-28.

Mizuno 16 will play for the Puget Sound Region Club bid on Sunday at the Prime Time tournament at Franklin-Pierce HS.

WVBA Mizuno 16-Gold will be playing in the PSR Power League Final on Sunday at Kentwood HS.

WVBA Mizuno 15 will be playing in the U16 Prime Time Tournament on Sunday at Franklin-Pierce HS.

WVBA Mizuno 14 will be playing in the U15 Prime Time Tournament on Sunday at Auburn-Mountainview HS.
