WVBA Mizuno 14s Win Again

WVBA Mizuno 14s win back to back tournaments with PL3 Championship

SEATTLE, WA - Mar 11, 2008
PSR Power League 3
WVBA Mizuno 18 and Mizuno 17 met once again in the crossover match of Power League 3 to determine which team would represent the Academy in the finals. This time the younger team came out on top of a truly entertaining match. Mizuno 18 went on to finish 4th in Gold after dropping their next match to Puget Sound 18 Gold. Mizuno 17 were unable to beat Sudden Impact 18 Tsunami in the final to finish 2nd in Gold.

WVBA Mizuno 18-Red finished 7th in Copper after finishing 3rd in pool play with a win over YMCA Blaze and losses to High Velocity and Northshore Juniors. They dropped their crossover match to Puget Sound, but rebounded to finish the day with a win over Island Fire.

WVBA Mizuno 16 and Mizuno 15 played on Saturday in the 16 Gold Division at Mountlake Terrace High School. The Academy 16s finished 2nd in their pool with wins over Puget Sound 16 Gold and Capitol 15 Ice. They lost to #1 UPVBC 16. This set up a crossover match in the afternoon against the #1 team from Pool B.

Mizuno 15 finished 1st in Pool B after beating Olympia 16-1 and Edmonds Elite and dropping the match to KJ 16s. This matched WVBA 15 with WVBA 16 in the crossover match.

This was going to be the weekend where the odd aged teams faced off with the even aged teams and the odd teams (and I do mean odd) won! WVBA Mizuno 15 beat Mizuno 16 in their crossover match to face Olympia in the final after they handed UPVBC their first loss in the Power League. WVBA 16 then lost to UPVBC 16 to finish 4th in Gold and Mizuno 15 lost to Olympia in the finals to finish 2nd in Gold.

WVBA Mizuno 14 and Mizuno 14-Red played at the same facility as Mizuno 18 and Mizuno 17 on Sunday in the 14 Gold Division at Auburn Mountainview High School.

It was great to have four WVBA teams competing in the Gold Division of power league in the same facility. For many of the players and parents it was their first opportunity to watch the other teams play.

Mizuno 14 ended up finishing 1st in their pool after beating Sudden Impact in the 1 vs 2 matchup. The Academy 14s then faced Sudden Impact in the finals and took care of them once again to finish 1st in Gold. Meanwhile 14-Red dropped to 3rd in pool based on the criteria for a 3-way tie for 1st. 14-Red won their crossover and then lost their last match to finish 6th in Gold.
