WVBA Prepares for 2008 Season

2008 Players and Staff at All-club meeting Monday (click for larger photo)

SEATTLE, WA - Dec 2, 2007
WVBA held their all-club meeting on November 26th despite the freakish weather and stubborn traffic.

Thank you to all of the players and families for attending last night's meeting in less than ideal conditions.

The coaches are very excited to get into the gym and start training in the coming week.

Practice Schedule/Maps
We have a rather sporadic schedule for December and January. We have posted the calendar here, and it is always available by clicking on the members button at the far right above.

Always verify your schedule with your coach as your coach will have the latest information regarding your practice times and locations, especially if there are any changes to the schedule.

You will also find a map (thanks Joe!) to our practice sites here and it also is always available on the members button at the far right menu above.

As the tournament locations are determined we will provide a link to the playing sites from each team's schedule.

USAV Membership Renewal
If you haven't already, please complete the USAV online registration process.

If you are a returning member, click here and log in to renew your membership for 2008.

If you are a new member, click here and set up a new account.

Payment of registration fees is handled by the club and is included in your dues.

If you have any questions with the process, please contact Dave at dw@wvba.org.

NCAA Tournament
The Washington Huskies were upset by BYU on Saturday night in a 5-set match at Bank of America Arena. The loss put an end to the Huskies' pursuit of a fourth consecutive national semi-final appearance. It is hard to believe that we will not be able to watch Christal Morrison, Stevie Mussie, Alesha Deesing and Ashley Aratani any longer in the UW home matches. Thanks for all of the memories and good luck to all of you in your future endeavors.

Western Washington Univ.
Finishes #2 in Nation

On the same night the Western Washington Vikings shared the stage with the Huskies by playing in the national championship match for Division II in Topeka, KS. The Vikings fought hard but fell just two points short in the 4th set to force a tie-breaker with national champion Concordia-St. Paul.

Congratulations to Head Coach Diane Flick (WVBA co-founder), Asst. Coach James Suh and the incredible players of Western Washington University. What a fabulous finish to a memorable season. Former WVBA players Courtney Schneider (best libero in the nation), Tiana Roma and freshman Megan Amundson all contributed to their outstanding run in the tournament.

Division III UPS Lady Loggers
Another congratulations is in order for the University of Puget Sound Lady Loggers. They finished tied for 5th in the nation this season in the Division III national tournament. WVBA Alumnae Lindsey Denman and Kelsie Telge helped the Lady Loggers in their pursuit of another national championship.

Not a bad showing on the national stage for volleyball in our area!
