Through my years of coaching I have been blessed to work with many great players, great teams and great coaches and can honestly say that I have learned more from them than they have learned from me. My fondest memories have been tied to the practice court where these great players, teams and coaches are molded. As coaches we have a responsibility to the players and their parents to bring the best out of them as both players but more importantly as young adults. There are three books that have been instrumental in my development as a coach, which explains a lot about me as a person if you spend a bit of time browsing the pages. I have been fortunate to have spent time with each of the authors and continue to reread their works……Dr. Bob Rotella, Life Is Not a Game of Perfect; Coach Teri Clemens, Get With It, Girls! Life is Competition; and just about everything that Dr. Bruce Brown has pulled together especially Teaching Character through Sport and The Role of Parents in Athletics. As volleyball continues to evolve it forces me to stay current, learn from each of our Academy coaches and the wealth of volleyball knowledge that is present in the northwest, and take advantage of each opportunity the players give me to grow…….I am excited about this season!

"Better the ball...and everything else you do! To do this you need to raise the standards that the players and those around them have set. Teaching character traits and relating those to situations both on and off the court. Concentrating on the things we can control mentally and physically...especially the details. Finding the teachable moments and taking advantage of them. Great communication and fun will lead to success."
