Arrived to my favorite river at approx. 4PM on Sunday afternoon. Sorry if I don't tell you which it is, Its really nice to be on the river and maybe see 2-3 fisherman ALL day. The water was low and clear which meant I needed to down size and entice the fish to bite. I spent no longer than 45 minutes per pool or rift trying eggs, spinners and pink plastic 3" worms. At 7PM my line stopped at the end of a tailout and WHAM, the battle lasted about 8 minutes while my 10lb test line ran from one end of the pool to the other. I saw the flash of a bright chrome fish from the the depths. Finally he tired and I was fortunate to land a 14lb Chrome buck Steelhead. The week before drifting eggs with only a split shot and a number 2 Gamugatsu hook I landed a 15lb Springer. Patience and a little luck along with some Pro-Glow eggs and have been my winning ticket.

Fished the Northwest Zipperlipper today. Good green color with four feet of visibility and variable weather conditions. The weather however did warm up about 10-degrees from the day previous. Put in at about noon, hit two in the first hour but both came unbuttoned. Good day anyway, some you win, some you lose. Kind of like a saying I often think of, "The Fish is Natures gift to the optimist, taking us back to our youth, reminding us of those days on the water with our Grandfathers." I remember fishing with my Grandfather. We’ll be back. The big Nat’s are on the way. Give me a holler to book a trip or just fish.

Went fishing early Sat. morning to my secret river, but if you read the reports you know where I'm talking about. I hooked one king about 12 lb. my buddy hooked one about 14 lbs. and saw 3 walk out about 10 to 12lb. The kings are starting to enter the rivers guys. Just a footnote: I heard the kings are at Hoodsport. I like a challenge personally.

We arrived at 7.00 a.m., took 1 steelhead and released a lot of coho. That was the
only steelhead caught that I saw. We left at about 11:30.

Heather and I arrived early on Sat. morning ready for some excitment!
We found it! First fish was landed with a silver shad rap, 25-lbs. still had ok color!
Took our picture and let it go. To make a long day of fishing short..... We caught
a total of 7 Kings largest being 40+lbs and two 25+lbs fish caught on
my fly rod with a green butt skunk! Lot of fun can't wait to get back out
there again!
Fellas don't forget that sometimes the wife can be good luck! Heather had
a great time reeling in her two fish! :) Till next time, good luck out there!

What a great day for fishing. The sun was just starting to break over the hill, the water
was clear, our hopes were high. A good friend had been telling me about this area for
a few weeks now and I finally decided to give it a shot. Doug and I found a great hole
to start fishing and at 07:30 the fish were also in the mood for action.
After about five casts with a silver shad rap a beautiful Dolly ambushed my line.
after a heck of a fight I reallized were it got the knickname Bull Trout. He measured out
at 20" then I sent him back to the stream. Next cast I noticed another nice
Dolly rise and fall what a fish he was, I threw to him again and sure enough he
picked it up and the fight was on, 23" of lean fighting meat.
I also heard Doug talking about the large numbers of Kings that were making there way up
the river. Doesn't look like the are any shortage here WOW! There are some really big
fish too! I went to a Huskey Jerk and landed a nice 16" Rainbow what a nice supprise.
A few hours went by and the Shad rap was back on. Just in time too! I picked up a
very large fish. A 35-lb. Hen Chinook! What nice color too, that bronze prespawn glow!
20 minutes of fight in that current and we were both beat! I got a quick snapshot of my first
king and she took off back upstream. We drove up the river to the next access point and
saw some giant kings. Some off these bad boys must have been 50+ lbs.
Gave this hole an hour to produce a fish and no result so we moved on.
2:30 in the afternoon we ended up back at the original hole and Doug hooks into another
big King. A male with its beautiful hooked jaw and bronze color without a mark
on his skin. And what a fight he was giving on this 6-1/2' rod withh 12-lb. test
line. Doug had pretty good control of the monster at first, but when he decided to take
Doug down stream into the rapids and into the rocks we both knew that the fight
would be shortened some. I ran down the bank to free Doug's line from the trees and
keep tension on the line. The fish buried his head into the sharp rocks rubbing
it thin! I tried to steer the line out of the rocks with my hand but the fish
lifted it's head and shook the hook loose. What a fish, 35+ male... Catch an release
here only so that was best! Doug was just happy to have played such a large king
and to see him testing that rod was great!
We had a ways to go to get home so we said goodbye to the fish and promised them that
we would visit them again soon.
